Food has always been exceptional at Shu. Recently, it's gotten noisy. To no fault of theirs, customers with babies ... everyone's welcome and we've all been there. I remember when my two were toddlers, every time we went out people would comment on how they were dreading the baby proximity, but that they were exceptionally surprised. My trick was feeding my children prior to going to sushi. One, I wasn't ready to introduce them to raw flesh bacteria and their hungry energy wasn't fair to them nor to others. Then their experiences were more about having new experiences rather than feeding. Luckily we were able to leave early enough today... but there must have been a half dozen children at Shu today. And I'm grateful we were there significantly ahead of the noise roller coaster. I had never seen children there and to see so many today was mind boggling. I don't even know what child friendly items are on the menu. For the $$$ spring for a sitter. And I say it with love and kindness. Your kids rather be home and don't you deserve the air to enjoy your Shu time? Yes Shu do! We were happy with everything we had as always!!! I've always been happy with everything I've had there. I think I'm saving my next visit for lunch or school night. I think I was traumatized not because of the hangry screams rather because of it happening there. I'm used to seeing familiar faces quietly hoping to not be recognized. Oh, and for the blonde with enhanced lips, please don't publish the pics you took. Not cool. We all saw you take them. Not cool at all.

I would give 3.5/5 overall, but 4.5 for quality and presentstion! All of our sushi we ordered was so delicious and top notch quality! I took photos of everything except the "spicy tuna" handrolls we ordered. We got Toro, Hamachi, Sake, Hotate, Hirame, Hirame fin, Monkfish, Kinmedai, Butterfish, Ikura and quail egg and Uni. We also got Ama Ebi..delicious. We also got an order of "spicy tuna" handrolls which were NOT SPICY..at all. Not even the lowest on a spicy scale. We asked for spicy oil on the side but it didn't help the flavor. Those we could have done without. We also got Hirame carpaccio which was light, refreshing, delicious. We had ordered shishito peppers but they never came. We had a nice bottle of sake, but we poured it 95% of the time. Their dessert menu is a shame, does not reflect the establishment. It's like a sub-par sushi venue's menu. Ice cream, mochi, fried bananas, sorbet..nothing worth ordering. Not a fan of the tables that are so close to each other with a clear window. It's not Covid anymore, maybe black the screens out, or some kind of design on it, so it feels more private..I had requested a booth but they did not pay attention to my reservation notes.

Food - Amazing sushi. It's so refreshing to have a proper sushi restaurant. The fish was fresh. That evening I had a salmon flight/tasting and each one was like butter. Blue crab hand roll was also better and fresher than most. Service - server was great with steering me in the right direction. Every recommendation was appreciated. We had no reservations but they were able to accommodate us. Ambiance - Great intimate setting with a modern and traditional sushi restaurant of that makes any sense. Not loud and just a nice place to have a meal.

Great neighborhood sushi spot! Love walking in during the week and sitting at the bar for a quick bite. They tend to get busy on weekends so best to snag a resy early. Make sure you get their secret menu Truffle Pasta!!

Ventured out to the Beverly Glen area to try something new and glad I did. Shu Sushi House is a winner. It was a very local crowd and everyone, diners and servers, seemed to know everyone. The menu is very large and we had a hard time deciding because so many things sounded good. We tried a couple sushi rolls, the rainbow roll being the winner. The fish was so fresh and the crab filling super delicious. The other standout was the Shu tacos appetizer, which consisted of spicy tuna, crab and shrimp housed in crispy little shells. The only thing we wouldn't re-order was the pan fried tofu, simply because of the lack of veggies in the dish. The restaurant is located in an upscale plaza and has plenty of parking. Can't wait to return.
